No matter what section or whichever way you turn a snowflake, it is harmonious and beautiful. To absorb the overall exquisite design, you would need to gaze at it, over and over again. This could be an invitation to observe how pattern affects the way you feel. These elaborate geometric configurations direct from nature inevitably speak to the underlying structure that is also present in all creation. Although they may seem incredibly complex, ranging from semi-symmetrical to nearly perfectly symmetrical, they share the same basic hexagon shape. Each individual snowflake offers many facets and spaces creating welcoming spaces that call the eyes to visual meditation. An infinite variety, with no two alike, results in a crystal menagerie that can easily go unnoticed, due to their microscopic size. Exploring this landscape has the feel of a vast inner space exploration...I look forward to my continuing journey with great anticipation.

2007-08 was my first winter spent photographing snowflakes... It was the most exciting time. I never knew I could be so cold and so happy at the same time. I am currently sorting and reviewing the photos from three seasons as I am in the midst of my fourth season of snowflakes. Having lived in a snow belt and lake effect snow area for 35 years, I’ve observed some serious negativity that begins to accumulate as winter drags on. But now I find myself in a rare position of wishing for colder weather and more snow: truly a minority position, but one of blessedness, nonetheless...
